Why I Choose Gratitude

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” - Psalm 136:1
A Daily Reflection on Gratitude
Today, let’s take a moment to embrace the power of gratitude in our lives. It’s a simple yet profound practice that can transform our mindset and uplift our spirits. Cultivating an attitude of gratefulness has been my lifeline, helping me navigate through the storms of anxiety and depression. Life may not always be filled with sunshine and roses, but even in the darkest moments, I find hope in knowing that God is working things out for me.
Community in Prayer
Last night, I attended a prayer meeting, reminiscent of the times I spent with my mother in my childhood. It was my first gathering in a long while, and I was truly amazed by the presence of God among us. There’s something sacred about coming together with like-minded individuals, praying with the belief that things will get better. This is what my prayer partner refers to as "community." As I step into this new season of my life, I’m learning the importance of surrounding myself with people who genuinely care and encourage me through every situation.
I also strive to be a source of support for others. It’s a practice that can be challenging, yet it’s essential for growth. This year, I’ve committed to doing difficult and uncomfortable things - stretching beyond my comfort zone to become more reliable, stronger, and empathetic. When I’m asked to consider another person’s feelings, I aim to focus not just on my own emotions but on how I can assist someone in greater need. In the past, I was content to remain in the background, but this season calls for action, and I am ready to respond.
Embracing Discomfort
I encourage you to seek out something that makes you uncomfortable this week. It is in these moments that we truly grow and discover more about ourselves. After all, following a routine can sometimes feel monotonous, but I am grateful for those calls that draw me into deeper trust in God and His plan for me, even when I can’t see the purpose. Consistency is not merely about motivation; it’s about discipline and courage. If we desire change in our lives, we must show up each day and engage in activities that bring us joy.
Gratitude in Every Moment
As we move through our days, let us cultivate a spirit of gratitude. Acknowledge the small blessings, the moments of joy, and the opportunities for growth. Gratitude has the power to shift our perspective, allowing us to see the beauty in every situation. May we each find something to be grateful for today and every day, and may that gratitude lead us to a deeper understanding of God and our purpose in Christ.
With all my love,
Zo xx
